A research project on Optimising Mature Weight for Farm Efficiency and Profitability was undertaken by AbacusBio Ltd., for the three GB levy boards (HCC, QMS and AHDB). Published in 2019, the research highlighted the importance of performance recording, and that ‘bigger is not always better’ when it comes to the mature weight of breeding females.
