PGI Welsh Lamb will be featured at several events in New York in the coming week as Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) drive forward with their export programme.
For the first time, the HCC team will be exhibiting alongside Welsh Government at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, a specialty food and beverage trade show taking place June 23-25.
Welsh Lamb is also being featured at a Brits in Brooklyn event where American food and drink influencers and VIPs are being introduced to a range of iconic foods from the United Kingdom.
Additionally, Welsh Lamb will feature at a reception hosted by the Ambassador to the United Kingdom at the official residency in New York.
HCC’s Head of Strategic Marketing and Connections, Laura Pickup, commented “The USA is one of our key target markets for Welsh Lamb internationally. Being present at the Summer Fancy Food Show and having Welsh Lamb feature at a number of key industry events will allow us to meet with potential buyers and customers and to tell the story of Welsh Lamb’s excellent environmental credentials and superior quality and taste.”
The USA is a key export target market for HCC and the Welsh Lamb sector and has been estimated to be worth millions for the industry in the long term. The market reopened to UK producers and exporters in 2022 after a twenty-year ban was lifted with the first shipment of lamb being sent from a Welsh plant in October 2022.
